The apathy in Europe towards the global wars carried out in the name of Western modeled democracy is not news to anyone who is not apathetic. The CIA writes memorandums about the phenomenon and even gives recommendations on how to prevent people from “waking up”.
Diplomatic cables released by Wikileaks sent from the American embassy in Sweden reveal a very disturbing truth. Representatives for the Swedish government have deliberately bypassed Swedish parliament regarding anti-terror operations and expressed a “strong degree of satisfaction” in doing so. Meanwhile, one of Sweden’s largest newspapers, Dagens Nyheter, is reporting that PM Reinfeldt is currently more popular than ever. Isn’t there something wrong with this equation? The answer is the Swedish media, which responded enthusiastically to the released cables. Enthusiastic silence that is.
